Do you book the elevator for me?
The booking has to come from the resident or owner, because buildings only take it from someone on file. Once you have the time block confirmed, tell us the window and we schedule the crew to match it.

Yes. Send us your property manager’s requirements when you book and we provide the certificate before moving day.
What happens if the elevator booking runs out before we finish?
Tell us the exact window when you book so the crew plans the load order around it. If a building allows an extension, the crew will keep working. If not, the remaining items are handled in the next available window.

Yes. Same-building moves between units or floors are routine and are usually quicker than a move between addresses, since there is no drive time.
Booking the service elevator
The elevator is the thing that decides whether a condo move runs smoothly, and it is the one part
we cannot do for you. Buildings only accept the booking from the resident or owner on file, so the
sequence has to be: get the window from your property manager, then book the crew around it.
Most buildings release the service elevator in fixed blocks, commonly three or four hours, and
busy buildings are booked weeks ahead for month-end dates. Many take a refundable deposit against
damage to the elevator or common areas. Ask your property manager three things: which hours are
available, how long the block is, and what they need from the moving company in writing.
Loading docks and access
Every building handles the loading area differently. Some have a proper dock with its own hours,
some have a designated bay in the garage with a height restriction that a full-size truck cannot
clear, and some have neither and expect the truck to work from the street. The height restriction is
the one that catches people out, so check the clearance on your garage entrance before moving day
and tell us the number.
Certificates of insurance
Most property managers will not release the elevator or the dock without a certificate of
insurance naming the building as an additional insured party. This is standard and it is not an
obstacle, but it does need lead time. Send us your building’s requirements when you book and we will
have the certificate issued before the move date. Our insurance policy page sets out the coverage that applies to your belongings.
Timing your condo move
Condo moves cluster at month end because that is when leases turn over, and that is exactly when
elevator blocks are hardest to get. If your dates have any flexibility at all, a mid-month or
midweek move is easier to book on both sides and usually runs faster on the day because you are not
sharing the elevator with three other moves.
Apartment and high-rise movers
A rental apartment is not the same job as a condo, even when the building looks identical from the street. Condos are run by a property manager and a board with a written moving policy; rental buildings are usually run by a superintendent, the rules are less formal, and what you can and cannot do often depends on who is on shift that day. That difference is what catches people out, so we plan apartment moves around it.
Booking the elevator in a rental building
Most high-rise rentals still have a service elevator and still want it reserved, but the process is usually a phone call or a note to the superintendent rather than an online form and a deposit. Ask two things when you book it: how long the reservation lasts, and whether the pads get hung by building staff or whether you are expected to arrange it. In a walk-up with no elevator at all, tell us the floor and whether the stairwell turns, because that decides the crew size more than the size of your apartment does.
Loading docks, ramps and street parking
Older rental buildings frequently have no loading dock. That means the truck parks on the street or in a fire route, and the carry from the truck to the elevator becomes the longest part of the job. If your building has a designated loading zone, tell us where it is. If it does not, check whether your municipality requires a temporary parking permit for a moving truck on that street, because a ticket on moving day is avoidable and a tow is not.

Rental buildings ask for a certificate of insurance less often than condo boards do, but plenty of the larger management companies still do.
